Fendi is an Italian designer company that was founded in 1918. LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton S.A. group owns Fendi Fendi boutiques are found all over the world…with boutiques found in New York, Milan, Paris, Tokyo, Boston, and Beverly Hills.
Fendi started back in 1918 when a woman named Adele Casagrande opened a leather and fur shop in central Rome. When Adele married Edoardo Fendi in 1925, they made a decision to change the name to Fendi. The business prospered, and another shop was opened in Via Piave in 1932. By 1946 the couple’s daughters started working for the firm and the family business kept growing.
In 1965 designer Karl Lagerfeld and the Fendis stared working together and it proved to be good partnership. Lagerfeld quickly designed the now famous inverted FF logo that eventually joined the rest of internationally recognized fashion symbols, and forged ahead with the help of the five sisters to change the way that fur and other clothing materials were used in the fashion industry.
The company's line of accessories, such as their beautifully designed line of sunglasses, are now found on the faces of many high profile stars as well as Fendi’s signature carry bags such as the Spy, buckled B-bag, and embellished bucket bag are often found being carried by the rich and famous. In fact, Fendi products are usually in such high demand that the waiting list is very long and the wait is anywhere from weeks to months.
The Fendi lines of products are as follows: Fendissime: Karl Lagerfeld formed this “young” line (akin to Prada’s Miu Miu line) in 1962 in cooperation with input from the five daughters. Unfortunately this line is no long in production.
Back in 1989 Fendi licensed their name and logo to Cross-Pens. Also, unfortunately, back in early to mid 2000, Cross quit producing writing instruments. Fendi also now licenses out their name for their gorgeous line of watches.
Fendi's fabulous line of sunglasses/eyewear includes prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses as well as their beautiful and popular non-prescription sunglasses.
