Louis Vuitton
Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy usually known as just Louis Vuitton, is a luxury French fashion design company of leather goods and other items. The company is based in Paris, France.
The company is named after its founder Louis Vuitton who designed and manufactured luggage during the second half of the nineteenth century. Louis Vuitton was born in Jura, France, which is now part of a commune known as Lavans-sur-Valouse, but he moved to the city of Paris in 1835. The trip from his hometown in Jura to Paris was over 240 miles, and he walked the entire way. Vuitton would do odd jobs to pay for his journey as he traveled. Two years later he would become an apprentice for a luggage manufacturer named Monsieur Marechal. Vuitton was now 16 years old. In 1854 Vuitton founded his fledgling company, which is now owned by LVMH, a French company that is ran by Bernard Arnault.
One hundred and fifty years after the company’s then 18 year old founder began creating and selling trunks in Paris, France…Louis Vuitton's fabulously world reknown signature leather goods are a status symbol for the rich and famous all over the world. His lines of leather goods are also held in high esteem in the world of fashion. Vuitton’s Monogram Canvas design is considered to be the first designer label in of the late 19th and early 20th century history. The actual design was created by Vuitton's son, Georges, in 1896 and its purpose was to actually prevent cheap counterfeit knock offs. Ironically, Louis Vuitton has become the most counterfeited brand in fashion history. Only about 1% of all items with the Vuitton logo are not cheap fakes.
The Louis Vuitton Company has cultivated a list of celebrities who are prefered customers and has used many famous models and actresses in its marketing campaigns. Uma Thurman and Scarlett Johansson are to of the most recent satrs to appear in the Vuitton ads. Other models and actresses who have lent their name to the Louis Vuitton line include Christina Ricci, Kate Moss, and Naomi Campbell and a slew of others who have helped launch Vuittons line of classically stylish sunglasses. Hayden Christensen has also appeared as model for the company's luggage lines…and helped promote the eyewear/sunglasses line too. The company very often uses printed ads in magazines and huge ads on billboards in the more cosmopolitan cities.
Vuitton’s sunglasses, handbags, and other products have developed a rather cult like following over the last 150 years.
